Two Great Photographers

One photographer that I like is Paul Strand. I took some photos like him and I had a good time doing it. He took black and white photos and he liked to show how the light could affect it. Paul was around during the late 1800's and the early 1900's. One of his most famous pieces of photography is the Wall Street Photo. He is a very good photographer.

Imogene Cunningham is another good photographer, she takes close up pictures of mostly flowers. She has done other things as well. Imogene is actually the person who my class is doing their next photos like. We are going to have to take close ups of anything. Imogene is a great photographer.

  1. Short and sweet, that's all that is needed. Imogene not only took flower photographs, she was a friend of Ansel Adams and they belonged to a group called F64, and they took many landscape photographs. She is also well known for her nudes, which, for obvious reasons I did not share this in class...but you should know. And, in fact, her flower photographs are not as well known. I love her works and I think she is often overlooked, I am not sure if it's because she is a woman or she wasn't innovative-- in other words, she did what others did but better. Most artists will survive the test of time and remain famous because what they did was the first of it's kind, like Paul Strand and straight photography. He was the first to really recognise photography as art without having to make it something that it wasn't using tricks like soft focus. Just a thought to consider when you are looking at these artists. "Why are they famous?" Or "Why aren't they more famous?"
